1. Clear out your browser’s cache, cookies, and other data

After clearing your cache and cookies, revisit your YouTube channel to see if the problem will resurface or has been solved.
2. Disable browser extensions
Some browser extensions could also be the cause. When you install an aggressive extension that conflicts with your local browser settings, such an issue can be a result.
So, to solve this, type in the following address chrome://extensions to go to your Chrome browser extension page and disable them one after the other to find the extension causing YouTube to return to light mode.
Once you have found the extension causing the problem, you can remove it and enable other extensions, and continue enjoying your YouTube in dark mode.
3. Update your browser/app
Even an outdated browser can also cause YouTube keeps resetting to light mode. So, update your browser or app to see if this could fix the problem.
To do this, launch your Chrome browser and type in the following address and select to uninstall the new update. This should fix the error. Now restart your browser to see if the error has been fixed. If not, try the next step below.
4. Check-up Hardware acceleration
Like Microsoft Word, YouTube uses hardware acceleration to smoothly and cleanly present the videos. However, if your windows or your PC is aged, you can disable the hardware acceleration option to see if the YouTube light mode will be fixed.
