Installation Instructions: Fenders

You can easily install the tundra fenders with just a few tools available to you. And this could be done and dusted within a couple of hours. Furthermore, you don’t need to buy new items as you will reuse old fender hardware materials in fixing this one.

Tools Required For Most Install

  • Socket set
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Screw drivers (Flat head and Phillips);
  • 120 grit sandpaper (optional)
  • Metal Shears or Sawzall or Plasma Cutter

Step 1: Open your car hood and unscrew the bolts holding the fender. The bolts are seen behind the doors, under the hood, behind your bumper, and under the door area. (Note: other trucks might have their bolts located in other places. Locate yours.)

Step 2: Hold and remove the plastic liner from your fender, marker lights, and headlights.

Step 3: If your fender is steel, you can remove it by skinning the exterior fender through the inner shell of your truck after you have unscrewed the bolts.

Step 4: Now place your fiberglass in its position and mark the points you will drill a hole. (some fenders come with marks on where to drill a hole. Locate yours.)

Step 5: Once you have marked the points to drill. Drill holes there with a 3/8 drill bit. The purpose is to enable you to move the fender to fit in appropriately when fixing it to make sure it aligns the gap in the hood and door area. You can also get a consistent hood and door gap if you apply a mixing stick between the door and the fender.

Step 6: Now reinstall the fiberglass fender and screw them up. Be warned, don’t tighten them all up until you have gotten the right gap in place. As said above, with a mixing stick, you can get the right gap. Then tighten up. You will hear a cracking sound from the fiberglass fender, it is usual. So, just tighten up.

You will have to exercise patience when fixing this less you crack the fiberglass and may need to know how to fix it. Also, when fixing the fender, you might need to apply sand on them so that it doesn’t stick out too far. The need for sanding is because fiberglass is much thicker than steel.

After you have fixed your fender and you notice it’s sitting too low or too high. You can fix this by turning up or down the rubber height adjuster in the front of the hood. Check the core support or the hood to see the adjuster.

Rounding Off

Pls, note these fenders are made in a factory. They’re steel and used other hoods for the make. Therefore, may not be fit for all due to the thickness of the fiberglass when compared to steel. So, take your time to patiently install the fender.

When installing the fender on different trucks. You may have to remove the grill and lights to enable you to fix this appropriately. If you can’t handle this on your own, you should request the assistance of a professional.
